A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Castles of North Wales

Castles of North Wales

Snowdonia is perhaps best known for it's countryside but it has its own history too. In truth, I much prefer the Welsh name for the area, Eryri, but Norman remnants are never far away. That is because of the building of a number of castles to secure the area after the defeat of the princes of Gwynedd by King Edward. Harlech is one but there are others and the Welsh had their strongholds too with Dolbadarn having been declared as one of them.

All of this talk about castles has made me wonder if there might be a photographic project in the offing. After, here are a few of the castles that caught my eye during my explorations of North West Wales and there are others. Maybe, broadening the scope to include castles from other parts of Wales might be in order too. Who knows what might come of this brainwave?
