A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Pen-y-Ghent from Silverdale, North Yorkshire, England

I am always left in wonderment at why the Pennine Way was taken up and over Pen-y-Ghent when a perfectly serviceable footpath would have avoided it. That the route takes on the steep south face of the said hill adds to the mystery. It is on this approach that I made the above exposure and that wall you see going up the hill is shadowing the route of the Pennine Way. It looks daunting and there was one point on the way up where I nearly bottled it but I still managed to haul myself up to reach the top, even if the experience did leave me feeling a bit queasy afterwards.
