A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

I must have been fascinated by what I saw on my walk from Grassington to Kettlewell because I took a good number of photos. It may have been the contrasting mixture of limestone outcrops and well tended pasture while looking down from modest heights to the river valley below. Across the dale, Kilnsey Crag took up some attention but the position of the sun made it impossible to do anything photographically pleasing with it.

Returning to the picture, Middlesmoor Pasture and Old Cote Moor make up the steep sided hummock separating us from seeing along Littondale, a dale that I left unvisited so far. At its end, the River Skirfare joins the Wharfe and casting your eyes downhill from the point where I capture this vista will bring the intersection of the two rivers into view. A journey up Littondale is one that could eventually take you into Three Peaks country and Ribblesdale, the jewel in the crown of the Yorkshire Dales in my opinion.
