A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Ribblehead Viaduct and Whernside, North Yorkshire, England

Ribblehead is justifiably famous for its railway viaduct, part of the Settle-Carlisle railway, and having Whernside in the background only helps to etch the sight into the memory. An added dusting of winter snow adds a little something extra to the scene. It also meant icy pathways in places so beauty can come with a need for due care and attention, particularly when visibility is deteriorating and a dusting of snow is in the air. That change in the weather illustrates how momentary photographic pleasure can mislead and cold rain was my lot later on with my being convinced that a replacement for my Berghaus was in order, culminating in my purchase of a Rab Latok later in the year. The feeling of cold may have been engraved in my memory as I awaited my train home but a little adversity can be overcome with the right equipment and preparation.
