A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Limestone Pasture above Conistone, North Yorkshire, England

It you want proof that the Dales Way does change in character from its river bank stroll, this is it. The first time that I went by these parts was on a grey March day when concerns about failing light and transport home from Kettlewell limited the enjoyment. I suppose that made a return inevitable and it was on that sunnier visit that I captured what you see here. Much of the Yorkshire Dales is country like this: hilly fertile good draining limestone pasture where walls go uphill at an angle. The latter point may get you wondering about how it felt to go over the stile in the photo but I remember no hairy moments so it must have been fine. Rocky outcrops about but the real limestone pavements are to found elsewhere.
