One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. Getting from Kinder Scout to the edge of Longdendale involves mile after mile of largely featureless moorland. True, there are landmarks like the Snake Road and the Wain Stones but this is a part of the world where your navigation skills really do need to be up to scratch. While walking around there myself, I too needed to correct my course at one stage.
