A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, Derbyshire, England

When you use a name like the Pavilion Gardens, there needs to be a pavilion somewhere and there is a photo of the Octagon elsewhere in the album. Here is a view of some of the buildings adjoining it. At the right and taking up must of the built-up space in this scene is the 1000-seater Buxton Opera House, opened in 1905 during Buxton's heyday as a spa resort. Like many of Buxton's buildings dating from that period, it has enjoyed a recent refurbishment. It remains active today and hosts and the internationally famous Buxton Festival of Music and the Arts every July.
