Ashford-in-the-Water is a village with quite a few charms and the church is but one. Others include a packhorse bridge with adjoining enclosures allowing the washing of sheep. Unsurprisingly, the bridge is called the Sheepwash Bridge. It is no longer open to traffic which adds to its appeal. A market stand and many pleasant houses make Ashford very photogenic. All I have to do is catch up with it earlier in the day (I took the photo at the end of a long day’s walking along the Monsal Trail).
