A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Green's House & Stanage Edge, Bamford, Derbyshire, England

Stanage Edge more recently achieved notice for its inclusion in the 2005 film adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice but that wouldn't be my reason for exploring the hill country around Bamford, Hathersage and Grindleford. It's been a while since my last explorations so it might be time for a return after two previous walks in the vicinity. The one on which I made the photo that's above started from Bamford's train station on a pleasant June day of crossing lush fields and even a golf course until I reached the base of that edge. From there, I am trying to piece together clues from an unrehearsed memory. All that I have is shards such as rounding a farm on boggy ground, a walk downhill along a busy road before picking up a path that took me through a nature reserve whose name I cannot recall and a quick hike by the edge of the Ladybower Reservoir with the need to catch a train uppermost in my mind. These may come from separate outings so a reprise sounds appropriate and it might jog those fading memories too.
