A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Broad Walk, Buxton, Derbyshire, England

One thing that you'll notice from the small collection of photos in this album is that Buxton's Pavilion Gardens is a good hunting ground for photos. One reason for this is the diversity of surroundings that have been packed into such a small area. For instance, here is a view towards the houses lining Broad Walk from across a man-made lake that plays host to a multitude of wildfowl. The lake was part of landscaping created in the 1860's and early 1870's, doubtless to give pleasing views for the houses along Broad that were built about the same time. These were often rented to the businessmen from Manchester, many of whose families resided in Buxton for the season with the aforementioned gentlemen popping around at weekends. Well, they needed to get something for their money and it looks as if they got it too.
