A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

If ever you wanted a view over a U-shaped valley formed during a past ice age, this has to be one. Along its bottom flows Rydal Water and it's as if the valley is pointed at Lake Windermere in the distance. It looks as if it isn't the only one to be picked out since a sliver to the right easily could be Coniston Water. Framing the geological U is High Pike and Low Pike to the left the right wall being made up of Heron Pike and Great Rigg. The flat vantage point for all of this is Fairfield. All in all, it demonstrates the contrast of the relative flatness surrounding the southern lakes and the increasing ruggedness as you go north.
