A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

St. Stephen's Green is also home to a number of memorials, one of which you can see above. Countess Markiewicz, who led a contingent of the Citizen's Army here during the 1916 rising, is featured. William Butler Yeats, Lord Ardilaun, Jeremiah O' Donovan Rossa and James Joyce are also featured among others. Some monuments have suffered over the years: the Wolfe Tone monument was defaced in 1969 and subsequently replaced. However, a statue of King George II suffered the same fate as Nelson's Column in O' Connell Street: it was blown up and subsequently removed. These days, the place of Nelson's Column has been taken by the rather uninspiring Dublin's Spire.
