Ruthin has been left with a pretty town centre that has escaped a lot of the travails of modernity though there is a by-pass that doesn't do any favours to the approach to the place. Between Ruthin's church and its castle (the latter is now an hotel) lie some half-timbered buildings and its old gaol is another visitor attraction. Clearly, the town is somewhere with a little history there have been associations with figures such as Owain Glyndwr and Henry Tudor, latterly Henry VII, too.
