There is an ample amount of hill country to the south of Ruthin too and the Offa's Dyke Path national trail passes through here too. In fact, I was passing along part of it when I captured this scene a few miles north of Llangollen. Because of the steep slopes hereabouts, the path is only wide enough for a single person and the sight of a steep drop can be enough to stop you looking at the scenery but that's a fight worth winning. As it happens, there isn't so far to fall either though that's no excuse for being totally careless. After this walk, I was reminded of it on a stroll from Elgol to Sligachan where a stagger from another narrow path could have landed me in the sea in Loch Scavaig, an even less desirable predicament that made me wonder why I was so concerned in rural Denbighshire.
