Conwy Castle, Conwy, Conwy, Wales

Conwy is a town only four miles from the seaside resort of Llandudno that retains its historical feel, even down to narrow streets. The well preserved castle is more noticeable as it overlooks the town and there are town walls remaining as well. The photo was made from one of my usual vantage points while awaiting a train at Llandudno Junction.What is unusual is that I was granted useful light for creating the image; there have been many when that sadly has not been the case. Facing west as you'd have to do to make a photo from this angle means that it is a morning subject and the tide can be against you too. Here, it worked in my favour.

One August day a few years back, I actually took a walk around here that sent me around the hill in the background, on a horseshoe-shaped journey that landed me in Ty'n-y-groes via Rowen with the route taking in part of the North Wales Path that shadows the coastline. Memories of a fire burning in the distance, trying out new boots and making my own way across rough country towards pylons that mark a clear right of way was to be found are flooding back to me now. Quite how some memories return from nowhere is a constant source of amazement for me.
