I finish my virtual tour at the Lough, another Cork landmark. The Lough arises not because of an overground river but it is fed by underground springs. Being a rather substantial body of water, it plays host to a lot of waterfowl, especially ducks and swans. In addition, there is an island in the middle which would appear to offer sanctuary to the birds that live there. A lot of Corkonians make use of this amenity, whether they feed the birds or walk all around it. Incidentally, the walk right around the Lough is one mile or 1.6 km in length.
