A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Nether Alderley Mill, Cheshire, England

Nether Alderley Mill, Cheshire, England

Virtually across the Manchester-Congleton road from St. Mary's church (a field or two has to be crossed as well), we find Nether Alderley Mill. From the roadside, it might appear an inauspicious structure but it is a working water-driven corn mill of medieval origin. Formerly part of the holdings of the now departed Stanleys of Alderley Park (spendthrift ways and economic realities forced the sale of the estate to I.C.I. in the 1950's), It is now well cared for by the National Trust and open to the public most afternoons April-October inclusive.
