A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Moving northeast brings us to Callander, yet another point passed on my south-north/north-south escapades. Nevertheless, I did stop off there for some walking in 2002. This photo was taken after a day spent along part of what is now the Rob Roy Way - this stretch was once the route of the Stirling to Crianlarich railway line - but I did head up the slopes of Ben Ledi for a while as well. Appropriately enough given our presence in Rob Roy country, we now encounter an interpretive centre devoted to the telling of an account of his life; the local tourism information centre is also based here. And yes, it does rather look like a church and I am sure that it was one once but its role these days is very different. I suppose that it is forlorn hope that romanticisation of the notorious redhead's adventures, as epitomised by the Sir Walter Scott's 1818 novel and the 1995 film starring Liam Neeson, will not be part of the package.
