A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

The Quiraing from near Staffin, Trotternish, Isle of Skye, Scotland

My first visit to Skye didn't get to take in the Trotternish peninsula in the north-east of the island so I addressed that omission on my second outing two years later. It plays host to dramatic scenery of different sort with an otherworldly feel that seems alien in comparison with the more conventional fare in the south. From the west, it all looks like gentle rolling hill country but the true geological carnage is only visible from the east. It's all the result of an ongoing landslip that has thrown up weird and wonderful rock formations and an inland cliff that extends for miles. This view from near the lively Scots Gaelic-speaking community of Staffin only can show so much but the cliff is on show as are a few of those rock formations of the Quiraing.
