A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Tigh-na-sleubaich, Lairig Mor, Lochaber, Scotland

In spite of any appearance to the contrary, this is a deserted and slowly disintegrating farmhouse, its function now rendered obsolete with the advent of four-wheel drive vehicles after World War II. Its location is not that inaccessible but I suppose that its remoteness makes it an unattractive proposition for daily living, particularly in winter. Nevertheless, it is amazing that some mountaineering club has not thought of restoring it for its own purposes; it could be another Blackrock Cottage. The white quartzite cap of Stob Bàn hints at the wonderful mountaineering that abounds here and perhaps would make conversion of the old house into a mountain bothy an intriguing proposition. I suppose that its accessibility would make a normal mountain bothy status an impossibility but a secured version would surely be an enticing proposition.
