A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Ben Nevis and Carn Beag Dearg, Lochaber, Scotland

Ben Nevis and Carn Beag Dearg, Lochaber, Scotland

From Glen Nevis, the slopes of Ben Nevis show a gentler wrinkled aspect but it is from the north that you see its fiercer face. Here beside Carn Beag Dearg, the fiercer face of the Ben is on show. Their rugged profiles do give you pause for thought when you realise the Ben's aptitude for getting covered in clag at any time of year and snow during winter. The Five Fingered Gully is a notable death trap at these times. While the Ben is the most climbed mountain in Scotland, it is prospects like this that make you wonder if everyone whose summits the mountain is really up to the challenge.
