One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Ness Islands and River Ness, Inverness, Inverness-shire, Scotland

Much like the River Ness, I always seem to be passing through Inverness en route to somewhere else and, even with an overnight stay in the city, there remained an element of that in my most recent visit. Even so, that didn't preclude my seeing a side to the place that I had never seen before then. I cannot explain why this has been the way but seeing anywhere on a dull, damp and dreich day doesn't help for good first impressions. That first encounter saw me head to Loch Ness, the source of the river of the same name. The river reaches the sea at Beauly Firth but its short length doesn't mean that it cannot spring surprises like the above scene. Well, the last place where you would think you were is in the middle of a city...
