A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Craigmichen Scar, Moffat, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland

Craigmichen Scar is about about 5 miles (or 9 km) from Moffat so it was a two hour walk from my final destination of Moffat when I made this exposure on my 20 mile (32 km) hike starting at St. Mary's Loch. Due to land slippage, the Southern Upland Way was re-routed just east of here although I am unconvinced that the new route is better than the old one. The same land slippage is visible on the slopes of Craigmichen Scar and it amazed me that there were sheep grazing its steep eroded slopes on the evening of my passing. This isn't countryside where you can leave a dog off the leash.
