Eildon Hills, Melrose, Borders, Scotland

Like a lot of things, gaining a pleasing photo of the Eildon Hills took more than one go. In fact, making it to the high ground that lies between them happened a few years after the idea first entered my mind. While up there, I didn't rush away either and mounted each of the tops in turn. There are three of them and that caused the Romans to call them Trimontium. The highest one is Mid Hill and that's the one I ascended first before moving to Wester Hill. It was on the way from there to North Hill that the similarity to Rothiemurchus in the Cairngorms really dawned on me. Of course, you have to eliminate the surrounding pastoral countryside from view to see things the way that I do. What you see above is the view from the south but there is a more famous one that was prized by Sir Walter Scott. That has yet to see my footfall though.
