A Wanderer's Photo Gallery
One of the things that gets me exploring Britain and Ireland is the prospect of bringing away some pleasing photos of my own making with me. Not only has that fostered the growth of an interest in hillwalking and cycling but it also has driven me to further the photography itself. All that has created the library of images from which the collections that you find here have been drawn.

Holy Island, Lamlash, Isle of Arran, Scotland

Holy Island, Lamlash, Isle of Arran, Scotland

Arran enjoys a reasonably regular ferry service from Ardrossan on the Ayrshire mainland and it is the main way to get there and away. There is a ferry from Lochranza on the north of the island but that is to the Mull of Kintyre (potentially adds a lot to the journey and so is best if the Mull is your destination or a stopping place on your ramble) and is a summer only affair. What you see here is a view from the Ardrossan-Brodick ferry to the south. Holy Island these days is home to a Tibetan Buddhist community but there remains a ferry to the island from Lamlash, the conurbation that it shelters on the mainland.
