Outdoors Organisations
The whole realm of appreciating and conserving the countryside has spawned quite a number of organisations devoted to such things. Recent government proposals such as the ill-fated attempt to sell off forestry Commission land and the current overhaul of planning regulations seem to have had a galvanising effect of the sector. Add the profusion of onshore wind farms and one has to agree that we live in interesting times when we need to have a say on what is happening and, in some cases, to put a stop to what is planned when it seems unacceptable. Here are a few for your perusal. After a relatively benign period for the countryside in the U.K.’s history, it appears that the threats are multiplying so these are the very organisations that need our support if we are to conserve what is there to be celebrated about British and Irish landscapes for the enjoyment of future generations.
