Glen Strae, Stronmilchan, Argyll, Scotland![]() |
|
Our first calling point on our ramble through Argyll is Glen Strae not not far from Dalmally. The twin peaks of Beinn Lurachan and Beinn Mhic-Mhonaidh really do set off the scene in this enchanting glen. The only fly in the ointment on the day were the frequent showers, though they died out towards the evening. Glen Strae was an early staging post on a journey that took me over Lairig Dhoireann into Glen Kinglass and onto Taynuilt by the shores of Loch Etive last June. I still question my sanity when I think that I took it on but the wonderful views counteract that somewhat. Still, it's a 10 hour journey so start it earlier than I did and you should make the train back to Oban (I appreciated the taxi service of which I availed), unless you are staying in Taynuilt of course.
