The Minster, York, North Yorkshire, England![]() |
|
Moving away from the west end of building, this is a view of the North Transept and the Central Tower from the Dean's Gardens. The Central Tower was under threat of collapse during the building of the Minster during the Middle Ages, necessitating significant the strengthening of the Crossing that has ensured its presence with us today. There are many sides to this tremendous and historic building and visitors need to pay an entry fee due to the enormous costs involved in its preservation: it recently has been undergoing not inconsiderable attention without any financial help from Government. It should be worth it.
